Brand New cancels remaining tour dates
Brand New have postponed their upcoming tour dates in the aftermath of allegations of sexual misconduct leveled against frontman Jesse Lacey. The group announced on Facebook that fans will be refunded for their purchases. Over the weekend, the opening acts for the tour—Martha and Devine—each announced they were dropping off of the band’s tour dates in the UK and Ireland.
Late last week, a woman posted on Facebook that Lacey had solicited nudes from her as well as other inappropriate sexual conduct when she was 15 and he was 24. Lacey then made a statement about the accusations, saying “The actions of my past have caused pain and harm to a number of people, and I want to say that I am absolutely sorry.” Lacey did not specifically address the incidents in question, only to say that he had “hurt people, mistreated them, lied and cheated.”
Devine also released his own statement before dropping off of the tour over the weekend, saying that “We all need to do a lot better, myself very much included.”
